Every December

Lights On For Life

A motorcade through Rochester with headlights on, for the people who never made it home.
What it is

Headlights on. For life.

Lights On For Life opens National Impaired Driving Prevention Month on the first weekend of December. Families of victims, RAID members, police and fire crews and neighbors drive together through the city, headlights on in daylight, in memory of the people impaired drivers have taken from this community.

The motorcade is organized by Monroe County STOP-DWI. RAID families take part every year. In recent years the route has run from the Victims’ Rights Memorial in Highland Park through the community to Durand Eastman Park, and earlier editions began downtown at CityPlace on West Main Street.

Join us this December

Drive, line the route, or just turn your lights on

The date, start time and route are set each year by Monroe County STOP-DWI and announced in late fall. Everyone is welcome to drive, to line the route, or simply to turn on their headlights that day. RAID shares the details on Facebook as soon as they are posted.
